The Democrats have big expectations of the candidates for minister of health, labor and social protection and for minister of agriculture, regional development and environment. Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu said that if the two are named to the posts, they will be expected to yield serious changes.
In the program “Reply” on Prime TV channel, Sergiu Sîrbu said agriculture is a very challenging area and large-scale reforms will be exacted of the minister of agriculture. “Besides regional development and those important infrastructure projects, we need a major reform as regards water supply and sewerage which are problematic in the Republic of Moldova,” he stated, noting that solutions are also to be provided to waste management based on a strategy.
The MP also said that greater order is required in the health sector where there are a number of divisions that interact between them with difficulty. When the minister of health comes from the health system, this could lack the boldness needed to do reforms as this returns to the system when leaving the post of minister.
Journalist Victor Nichituș said he anticipated more changes in the Cabinet as there are a number of ministers who should be replaced. As to the candidate for minister of health, he noted Silvia Radu will most probably have a free hand to bring things in healthcare in order. “The Democratic Party decided to act for the benefit of society and this is very well. The PDM will achieve greater results when it brings water, sewerage and other good things to the people in communities,” he stated.
Sociologist Ian Lisnevschi said society expects more from the current Government and considers the changes in the Cabinet were made in a move to achieve more. “The PDM is the ruling party and should thus present more than a simple strategy, like the geopolitical one, to the people,” he noted.
