The Democratic Party (PDM) suggests forming a new Government based not on a political alliance, but on a majority vote in Parliament. According to the party’s leader Marian Lupu, a consensus should be reached so that the MPs who are responsible for the country’s future vote in a pro-European Government, IPN reports.

According to the leader of the PDM, such a conclusion was reached in the meeting of the party’s Stranding Bureau.

“The goal is to have a Government that would govern not with the coalition agreement in front, but based on its program, which should not be dependent on political decisions. We should have a Premier who will not have to every time go to consult his party chief, as it happened in some of the previous Cabinets,” stated Marian Lupu.

On November 24, the PDM will initiate consultations with all the political forces represented in Parliament. “We will consider possibilities of forming a parliamentary majority around the new Government, not around a political alliance whose formation is now difficult. We will discuss the possibility of naming politically unaffiliated persons as members of the future Cabinet. This principle also applies to the candidate for premiership. We need a Government that would do reforms, not would pursue particular policies,” said the Democrats’ leader.

According to the Democratic Party, the stability of such a Government is not different from the stability of a Government voted in by a coalition.

Marian Lupu noted that the PDM cannot form an alliance either with the parties of the right or the parties of the left. A conclusion will be reached in two-three days and consultations with the head of state will be held afterward.
