PDM dissatisfied with format of election debates at public stations

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) is discontented with the format of the election debates held at the public radio station and television channel, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Somebody wants that no election debates are held between the election contenders, while the current format of the debates at Moldova 1, to which only two rivals are invited, does not provide the people with objective information about the quality of those that want to enter the Parliament,” the PDM president Dumitru Diacov told a news conference on March 10. According to the PDM, the people want to watch and listen to discussions on important subjects between the representative parties and the ruling party, but this is impossible as some of the election contenders seem to run in elections only with the aim of misleading the voters. Therefore, Dumitru Diacov said, the PDM will file an application to the CEC, asking that the format of the election debates at Moldova 1 be changed at least during the final period of the election campaign. The election debates at Radio Moldova and Moldova 1 TV channel are held between March 9 and April 3, from Monday through Saturday. The two stations broadcast daily by three programs that last for 30 minutes each. Representatives of two parties take part in every program. The pairs are decided by draw.
