PDM decides to exclude mandatory military service

The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), as the party responsible for governance, took the political decision to exclude the mandatory military service. The party’s leader Vlad Plahotniuc, in the press beefing after the traditional weekly meeting of the PDM, said the reform of the army will be implemented in stages, during about two years, and the first changes in the conscription plan will be made this autumn, IPN reports.

The place of recruits will be occupied by service members employed on a contract basis. In parallel, the Government will solve the problems related to logistics and salary payment so that a modern army is created, which would be much better equipped and better supported financially, with professional soldiers, stated the Democratic leader.

In another development, Vlad Plahotniuc said the PDM requested its representatives from Parliament to hasten the adoption in the final reading of the law that makes punishment for those who attack doctors hasher. Concomitantly, training seminars will be planned for doctors to improve their attitude to patients. The results of these changes will be assessed through opinion polls and calls made by people to the special telephone line of the Ministry of Health. For the patients to be devoted more time and this is not spent on filling out documents, the PDM requested the Ministry of Health to come up with proposals for de-bureaucratizing r the activity of doctors.
