The court’s decision not to validate the seat of mayor-elect Andrei Nastase is sensitive and should be assessed through the judicial arguments as to understand what it was based on. This will be possible when the reasoned judgment is made public, spokesman for the Democratic Party Vitalie Gamurari commented on a social networking site, IPN reports.

The decision, given that it is not definitive, can be appealed to higher courts. Vitalie Gamurari said the Democratic Party will follow attentively the developments in this case and will make new comments.

After several hours of deliberations in the evening of June 19, the Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality didn’t validate the results of the new mayoral elections in Chisinau. Present at the court, mayor-elect Andrei Nastase, who heads the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA), told the press this is a perfidious game orchestrated by the current government, noting the decision of the ordinary court will be challenged.
