The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) has drawn up a list of possible candidates for the post of head of state, the party’s chairman Marian Lupu said in an event, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “The PDM has this list. We know that our colleagues from the PLDM are also ready for such an exercise. It’s not my duty to insist, but the colleagues from the PL may also have a list. All the participants in this dialogue should submit proposals so that we agree a common, short list by the end of this week,” said Marian Lupu. He also said that a candidate should be identified by this weekend. According to the Democratic leader, the Council of the Alliance for European Integration may hold a meeting today, February 20, to discuss the possible candidates. After the ruling alliance abandoned the idea of holding a constitutional referred, it is to find a candidate for the presidential elections that will be held in Parliament. An attempt was made last week to set the date of the elections, but the Liberal Party said they will vote in favor only when a candidate is identified. Marian Lupu proposed that the elections should take place on March 15.
