PDM and Shor Party react to nomination of new candidate for PM

The leader of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip expressed his regret at the fact that President Maia Sandu didn’t discuss the intention to field the acting president of the Party of Action and Solidary Igor Grosu for Prime Minister in the consultations she held with the parliamentary groups. Marina Tauber, MP of the Shor Party, said the group’s position will be made public as a result of discussions with colleagues, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip was the first who reacted to the President’s announcement. “The good side is that we got rid of an eventual candidate of the Dodon-Shor majority. As to the new candidate, we haven’t yet realized if this is a government for being voted in or we will be again asked not to vote for it. I don’t even want to take into account the possibility that the new candidates will again ask for zero votes as the country will not survive without a functional government,” the leader of the PDM posted on Facebook.

In a TV program, Marina Tauber said President Maia Sandu’s decision to propose Igor Grosu for Prime Minister will be discussed in a common meeting of the platform “For Moldova” and the leader of the Shor Party Ilan Shor. “We respect this proposal and respect Mister Grosu as a politician. We can say only good things about him. As to our vote and position and to the next steps, we will be able to provide response after the platform’s meeting,” stated Marina Tauber.

President Maia Sandu decided to nominate Igor Grosu for Prime Minister after she took note of Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership. The announcement was made in a press briefing as a result of consultations with the parliamentary groups in the evening of March 16.
