The representatives of the Party of Action and Solidary (PAS) changed the rhetoric. They now say the overcoming of the pandemic crisis is more important than the resolution of the political crisis and solutions can be identified even if the interim Government led by Aureliu Ciocoi continues to manage the affairs. The representatives of the Democratic Party (PDM) and of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) consider a Government with full powers should be now voted in to ensure the immunization of the population and the campaign preceding the snap elections can start afterward, IPN reports.
The representatives of the PPPDA noted the scenario of the President, according to which Parliament can be dissolved after March 23, is just a waste of time and the maintaining of an interim Government in times of a pandemic is an act of irresponsibility.
“After a discussion with the members of the interim Government, we convinced ourselves that we need a full-fledged Government. With the current interim Government we will not go far. Except for the Ministry of Finance, we saw full impotence. After March 23, most probably there won’t be circumstances for dissolving Parliament,” PPPDA MP Alexandru Slusari said in the program “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
The Democrats also consider a Government with full powers needs to be voted in as an election campaign cannot be started before the general population is immunized.
“I think no one wants an election campaign to be conducted when the citizens are not vaccinated. We need collective immunity first. At least 50% of the population needs to be vaccinated and then we can have electoral meetings. This means 4 million doses of vaccines and 33,000-34,000 people vaccinated daily. We anyway need this time. Why shouldn’t we have a Government until then?” asked the leader of the PDM Pavel Filip.
The representatives of the PAS said the solving of the political problems should be left on the second place and Parliament should focus on the pandemic crisis even with an interim Cabinet.
“The current Parliament could serve until 2023 given the ‘ballast” existing in the legislature, which is ready to invent anything to remain there. Nevertheless, we need to take urgent decisions even with the current interim Government. In the attempt to agree political solutions, we should not forget about the situation in hospitals,” said acting president of the PAS Igor Grosu.
On March 11, the Political Executive Council of the Party of Socialists decided to ask the Venice Commissions and the Council of Europe to take steps to make President Maia Sandu to obey the Constitution and the Constitutional Court’s decisions saying she should start consultations with the parliamentary groups and reach a consensus for designating the candidate for premiership.
