PCRM won 49.48% of the poll, official results

The Communist Party (PCRM) won the April 5 parliamentary elections, gaining 49.48% of the ballot. The Central Election Commission (CEC) made the official results public on Wednesday evening. According to the results, three more parties passed the election threshold of 6%. These are: the Liberal Party (PL) with 13.14% of the vote, the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) with 12.43% and the Moldova Noastra Alliance with 9.77%, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Moldovans living abroad voted differently. Out of the 16,914 Moldovans that voted at the 33 polling stations opened inside Moldova’s embassies and consulate abroad, 45.51% chose the PL, 24.88% - the PLDM, 8.53% - the PCRM, and 7.92% - the AMN. The other election runners polled less than 6% of the vote. The PSD obtained 3.7% of the vote, the PPCD – 3.03%, the PD – 2.97%, the UCM – 2.75%, the MAE – 1.01%. The other parties and independents garnered less than 1% of the vote. A number of 1,555,577 voters of the over 2.5 million persons with the right to vote took part in elections. According to the portal www.alegeri.md, the PCRM will hold 60 seats in the Parliament, the PL – 15, the PLDM – 15, while the AMN – 11. The president of the country is elected by the votes of 61 MPs.
