PCRM will not take part in presidential elections

The Communist Party (PCRM) will not participate in the presidential elections set for March 16 and will not recognize the President if he/she is elected, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin told the press on Friday, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We do not recognize these elections and consider that the current Parliament is illegitimate. That’s why the Communist parliamentary group will not attend the sitting when the head of state is to be elected,” Vladimir Voronin said. He reiterated that the legislative body must be dissolved and the date of the early parliamentary elections must be set. In another development, Vladimir Voronin stated the dismissal of the Communist lawmaker Artur Reshetnikov from the post of Deputy Speaker is political settling of accounts and an act against the opposition. He avoided saying if the PCRM will field another candidate for this post or not.
