The Party of Communists (PCRM) will not provide candidates for the new mayoral elections that will take place in Chisinau and Balti on May 20. Such a decision was taken by the Political Executive of the PCRM’s Central Committee, IPN reports.
According to the party, the decision derives from the fact that the term in office of the elected mayors will be of only almost a year and “the mafiotic-oligarchic regime definitely intends to use these elections to mobilize administrative resources, to design new rigging schemes and to continue to divide society before the parliamentary elections”.
So far, candidates for the Chisinau majorly were announced by the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (Andrei Nastase), the Liberal Party (Valeriu Munteanu), the Party of Socialists (Ion Ceban) and the Shor Party (Reghina Apostolova).
The Party “Action and Solidarity” intends to support Andrei Nastase in the elections, while the Liberal Democratic Party said it will not field an own candidate, but will hold discussions to decide whether to support a common candidate or not by March 31.
The Democratic Party said it will not have an own candidate in the local elections, but is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European forces of the right.
