PCRM will have to comply, Marian Lupu

Any Party, regardless of its attitude towards legislative provisions, is obligated to abide by them, stated Speaker Marian Lupu, commenting on the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin’s refusal to scrap the Communist regime symbols, in particular the sickle and the hammer, reports Info-Prim Neo. “If the current legislation does not stipulate any penalties for not following legislative provisions, then penalties should be elaborated and included”, Marian Lupu told reporters. When asked if the Party of Communists will be considered to be breaking the Law if they refuse to drop the symbols, Marian Lupu said that this is not a political matter. “We must see what Law says on the matter, and if the legal framework is incomplete, we will have to complete it”, the Speaker pointed out. At the end of last week, after a meeting of the PCRM, Vladimir Voronin stated that the Party has no intention to drop the communists symbols, and will do everything in their powers to preserve this right.
