The Communist parliamentary group will decide whether to give a vote of confidence to the Leanca II Government after it finds out the composition of the executive, the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said Wednesday after the consultations held with the candidate for premiership Iurie Leanca. The two politicians went out together after almost one hour of discussions, IPN reports.

The leader of the Communists said he discussed the Government’s four-year program with Iurie Leanca. ‘”I regret that we didn’t have the possibility of meeting more often until now owing to our stubbornness, of both sides. This is the first meeting with Mister Leanca and his first visit to our head office,” stated Vladimir Voronin.

Asked if the PCRM changed its mind as regards the candidacy of Leanca (earlier the Communists insisted on nominating an apolitical Premier – e.n.), the Communist leader said it’s not about Leanca, but about the Government of Moldova. “We didn’t change our minds. We are waiting to see the nominal composition of the Cabinet,” he said.

Iurie Leanca stated that he exchanged opinions with the Communist faction. “The program is a set of general policies. If tomorrow (February 12) I will get the support of the parliamentary majority for the government program and the composition of the Cabinet, I’m convinced that we will be able to discuss policy aspects with the colleagues from the PCRM,” he said, noting that it was an open discussion and he regrets that he didn’t earlier visit the PCRM’s head office.

Iurie Leanca also said that he may yet have discussions with the Liberal faction before the Parliament’s sitting.

On February 12, Parliament convenes at 10am. The Government is invested by at least 51 votes of MP. The PLDM and PDM support the candidate for premiership, but have together only 42 seats of MP.
