PCRM wants conditions for abusively dismissing Supervisory Board members, Eugeniu Rybka

The parliamentary group of the Communist Party put forward a bill whereby it wants to create conditions for abusively discharging the members of the Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM), the Board’s chairman Eugeniu Rybka stated for Info-Prim Neo. According to him, in a meeting last week the Supervisory Board examined the bill with amendments to the Broadcasting Code proposed by the Communist lawmakers. The bill amends Article 59 so that the Parliament can give a vote of no confidence to the Supervisory Board. But this would endanger the public company’s activity, considers Eugeniu Rybka. “The Supervisory Board formulated a position, according to which the passing of this bill will create conditions for the political parties to interfere in the work of “Teleradio Moldova”. There will appear possibilities of influencing the members of the Supervisory Board and the Broadcasting Code provisions saying only the executive bodies of the TRM can take decisions, without being politically influenced, will be annulled,” said the Board’s chairman. He also said that the bill will also annul the provisions that guarantee the editorial independence and institutional autonomy of the TRM. Eugeniu Rybka informed that the Supervisory Board formulated a notice on the issue that is to be sent to the Ministry of Justice. Article 59 of the Broadcasting Code says the post of member of the Supervisory Board falls vacant in such cases as dismissal, expiration of the term in office, conviction by definitive court decision, loss of the Moldovan nationality, mental or physical inability, or consecutive and unjustified absences from the meetings of the Board.
