PCRM says they will negotiate if presidential election date is set

The leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin insists on setting the date of the presidential election. He said that no talks will be initiated until then, Info-Prim Neo reports. Conducting negotiations without fixing the date of the elections will lead to nowhere. The ruling alliance continues to defy the Constitution, Vladimir Voronin said in a news conference. According to him, the AEI is trying to obtain the golden votes from the PCRM or to involve the party into the alliance’s internal conflicts, while the so-called dialogue opened is a trick because the real negotiations are held behind the scene. Asked about the meeting he had with Vlad Filat, Vladimir Voronin said it was an open discussion, but he is not convinced that it was sincere. They spoke about the social-economic problems faced by the country and the issue of electing the head of state. “It impressed me that Vlad Filat is aware of many of these problems and we agreed to continue the consultations,” said the Communist leader. Vladimir Voronin and Vlad Filat met at the PCRM’s head office on October 4. The other member parties of the ruling alliance did not know about the meeting.
