The Communist Party of Moldova (PCRM) reacted to the statements made by Communist MP Grigorie Petrenco, who called on the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin to vacate his seat and to no longer apply for the post of chairman of the party, IPN reports.
“The statements made by Grigore Petrenco form part of his latest actions whose goal is a clear one – to discredit and denigrate the PCRM in the period before the parliamentary elections. The members of the Central Committee of the PCRM stated their position on such acts in the last plenary meeting, on June 7,” reads the statement issued by the PCRM.
In a press briefing on July 9, Grigore Petrenco accused the leader of the PCRM of ‘selling’ the party to the oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc and of accepting the role of loyal opposition.
