The Party of Communists (PCRM) officially presented the electoral program of its candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality Vasili Chirtoca and its 55 candidates for the posts of municipal councilor. Both the candidate for the mayoralty and the applicants for the posts of councilor on behalf of the PCRM will be under No. 1 on the ballot, IPN reports.
Vasili Chirtoca said Chisinau now needs immediate action for not becoming a ruining city without the particularities of a capital. Among the required actions are to transform the central market into a market with roof, to gradually free the capital of casinos and to open social eateries in each district of the city. The city needs a good manager who will ‘switch over from words to deeds’.
The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said that after the elections of 2009 and 2014, a regime of the mafia and corruption was established in Moldova, which stole what it could and which is destroying what’s left in Moldova. Chisinau turned into the dirtiest city in Europe. Being an economic, political and social center, it was transformed into a polluted place without the infrastructure needed by the people, where the pavements represent parking places.
The Communist leader noted that Vasili Chirtoca is a person who created himself with his own mind, character and will and is the only one who launched a serious lasting business after the fall of the Soviet Union. Vasili Chirtoca has a generalized view on the problems faced in the capital city and the supporters and members of the PCRM will make effort to explain to the people why they should vote for this candidate.
Vladimir Voronin expressed his confidence that their candidates will win the elections, but said that a second round of the mayoral elections is possible given the tense situation in the country.
The head of the Communist faction on the Chisinau Municipal Council Natalia Vysotina said the team for the future Council has a concrete view how to make Chisinau a modern capital and to restore its appearance and everything will be done by deeds, not by words, with the help of a competent team led by a competent mayor.
After the presentation of the electoral program, national artists gave a concert for those attending.
