Communist MP Mark Tkaciuk told Info-Prim Neo that this was one of the most tragic days in the history of mankind. “My grandfather participated in World War II and fought in the defense of Leningrad and then to the wall of Berlin. It is a sad day”, he declared. People who laid flowers said this was indeed a sad day and that they wanted to bring homage to their grandparents who defended this land against Nazi occupation. Children and grandchildren must know this and never forget those who sacrificed themselves, they said. Unternehmen Barbarossa was the code name for the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II. The eastern front, opened by this operation, was the biggest battle stage of World War II.
