PCRM is against Romania Day celebrations in Chisinau
The Communist Party won't take to the streets to protest, but it will definitely oppose arrangements for any kind of celebrations in Chisinau dedicated to Romania's National Day on December 1, stated PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The former Moldovan president said that Romania's Day should be celebrated in Romania and not in the Republic of Moldova. It depends on the organizers and their goals whether there will be incidents in Chisinau on December 1, said the Communist leader.
“If their goal is to stage mass disturbances on December 1 and this is called a Romanian national holiday, then it's their business. We don't want any involvement in this”, said Vladimir Voronin.
The Communist leader also said in this context that the Hungarian authorities have forbidden any celebrations on December 1 on their territory.
Earlier a number of activist groups like Noua Dreapta (New Right) and Noii Golani announced they would stage marches in Chisinau on December 1. This sparked reactions among a number of organizations and even combat arts associations, who said they wouldn't allow it.
