The number of those who would vote for the Communist Party in possible early parliamentary elections has increased. According to a survey commissioned by IPN News Agency, the percentage changed during the period of the political crisis. 39% of the respondents said they would vote for the PCRM, up from 28.6% last November.
According to the sociopolitical barometer, the Liberal Democratic Party would rank second with 12.6%. The Democratic Party would poll 8.6% of the vote, while the Liberal Party – 7.5%. IMAS director Doru Petruti said that compared with a similar poll conducted last November, the parties of the former ruling alliance lose voters, both those who decide who to vote for according to circumstances and those who form the nucleus of voters.
Doru Petruti considers that the parties of Moldova are not very intelligent as they do not make everything possible to keep their voters. If early elections take place, the situation in Parliament will not change much because the people are inclined to vote for the PCRM. Over 21% of the respondents are not yet decided who to vote for. Experience shows that a part of these persons migrate to the Communists.
66% of the respondents believe that the PCRM wants early elections to be held, 43% consider that the PLDM wants early elections, while 25% and 23%, respectively, said this about the PDM and PL. 34% of those questioned are convinced that if early elections take place, the PCRM will return to power. 22% think the PCRM will return to power within a coalition, while 15% consider that the PCRM will remain in the opposition. The others didn’t answer.
The confidence and positive attitude towards the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin rose from 32% in November 2012 to 44% now. 36% of those polled have confidence in the Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca, as against 40% in the previous poll. The confidence in the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat fell from 38% to 23%, in the leader of the PDM Marian Lupu – from 31% to 21%, while in the chairman of the PL Mihai Ghimpu – from 24% to 15%. 30% of the respondents approve of the qualities of the new Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, who wasn’t mentioned in the poll last year.
The survey was carried out by the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS-INC Chisinau during May 10-26 and covered a sample of 1,143 persons. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 3%.
