The Communist Party (PCRM) changed its tactic, not yet the strategy, political analyst Viorel Cibotaru stated for Info-Prim Neo when asked to comment on the Communist MPs’ return to Parliament. “The PCRM suffered a series of political defeats lately. The most serious failure was the inability to provoke early legislative elections by the non-election of the President and then the inability to hinder the adoption of the two laws (the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality and the Law on the Reformation of the Anticorruption Center). The defection of a new group of MPs from the PCRM foiled certain decisions and influenced their character,” said Viorel Cibotaru. He considers that these events made the PCRM to change its tactic. “The Communist MPs attempted to make this return scandalous by submitting proposals that cannot normally be accepted. In fact they camouflaged a full, combative return. They announced that they will continue the fight against the ruling alliance and the current Parliament. We will yet see if Vladimir Voronin’s statements were without content and ground or pursue certain political goals,” said the annalist. He also said that the Communists’ return will not destabilize the situation in Parliament. On the contrary, it is beneficial and will contribute to a stable situation. But everything depends on the Communists’ behavior. Speaking about the sympathizers of the PCRM, Viorel Cibotaru said there are three types of supporters – faithful, who will support the party no matter what it does; nostalgic for the past, who can easily abandon this party, and people who migrate from one party to another and they are the first who leave. Viorel Cibotaru considers that the latest messages of the PCRM show that the party is concerned about the loss of its faithful sympathizers. The messages become more radical and pro-Russia and more anti-liberal namely because they want to keep these supporters.
