PCRM asks Prosecutor’s Office to start criminal case against Premier

The Communist Party (PCRM) requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to open a criminal case against Prime Minister Vlad Filat over abuse of power. The request was made after several Communist MPs were banned access to the Government’s meeting on Wednesday. The application signed by Eduard Musuc, Victor Mindru, Alexandr Bannikov and Sergiu Stati was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office by lawmaker Sergiu Sirbu on Thursday. The MP was accompanied by sympathizers of the PCRM, who carried red flags and chanted “Down with the Alliance!”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Sergiu Sirbu said he also handed over to the prosecutor general an open note, asking the Prosecutor’s Office not to become involved in politics and not to allow the institution’s politicization. “We were informed that the administration of the Prosecutor’s Office ordered starting legal cases against all those who make anti-government statements. We thus asked Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko not to allow such interference and such political cases,” he stated. While the PCRM’s sympathizers chanted “Down with the Alliance!”, a man was protesting against the Communists nearby. “Down with the Communist mafia that had been in power for so many years. They should be patient. The alliance did not manage to do anything because the Communists placed hindrances to them,” he said. The Prosecutor’s Office said it does not comment on political statements and detaches itself from any attempt to attract the institution into political confrontations.
