The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said the last initiative of the Communist Party (PCRM) by which they demand that the head of state initiate a national referendum on the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU shows that the party wants to destabilize the internal situation and acts according to the principle ‘the worse, the better’. The comment was published on Filat’s Facebook page, IPN reports.

“The wish to take actions to destabilize the situation shows that the Communists and their satellites lost the last grain of common sense and reason. They want to set fire to their own house namely now, when the people of Moldova travel freely in Europe, when the country is to become an associate of the EU, when unprecedented investments comes to infrastructure, service sector and agriculture and when the economy is developing,” stated Vlad Filat.

According to him, the Communists want destabilization and hatred because they have been unable to develop the country. It’s cynical to destroy when you cannot build and it’s cynical to want poverty and fear instead of contributing to people’s wellbeing and freedom.

Vlad Filat condemns the Communists’ attempt to divide society and to discredit the state symbols and institutions. “We demand that they unconditionally obey the laws and the Constitution of Moldova! I warn the Communists’ leader Vladimir Voronin and all their satellites that they will bear personal responsibility before the law and before the people for attempting to sow discord in society and to affect the country’s development. You will not manage to take the country back to darkness, isolation and poverty! Moldova goes towards Europe, where there is peace and welfare,” reads the message.

On May 14, the Communist parliamentary group demanded that President Nicolae Timofti should initiate a national referendum on the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU within two weeks.
