PCRM accuses police and security bodies of intimidating its members
The Opposition party, the PCRM, complains that its members have been intimidated and discredited by the Liberal-Democratic government from the very first days of the new year, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement issued by the party. The party says that its members are being intimidated through the agency of the prosecuting bodies and the Security and Information Service. The Ministry of the Interior has not commented on the accusations.
The PCRM says dozens of young members of the party had been questioned over the weekend. They included Mihail Poleanski, the first secretary of the local organization of the PCRM in Chisinau's Ciocana district, who was a candidate for MP on behalf of the Communists Party in the election campaigns held in 2009.
The party also said that the homes of a number of representatives and supporters of the PCRM have been searched. According to the PCRM, a young member was detained illegally, interrogated by the police during more than 12 hours and intimidated into admitting that he was involved in the October 14 incident that took place in the Great National Assembly Square.
“The PCRM informs the society and the international community about the establishment of a right dictatorship in Moldovan and about the serious violations of the legislation and the fundamental human rights,” the party says in its statement.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Chiril Motpan, the head of the Interior Ministry's Information and Public Relations Division, said the Ministry does not comment on the accusations made by the PCRM.
