Pays to authors of new textbooks will be doubled. The initiative belongs to the Ministry of Education and Research, which also proposes guaranteed remuneration for the authors of the best school textbooks.

The Public Procurement Law was recently amended to prioritize content quality in the process of selecting textbooks.

The secondary legislation was also amended to extend the deadlines for preparing textbook bids from 6 to 9 months, for evaluating the bids from 2-3 to 3-4 weeks, and for the print approval from 3 to 4 weeks.

A new tender process will be soon announced to procure 34 titles of school textbooks, in accordance with the amended legislation.
