The teaching staff of preschool, primary and secondary education institutions of Chisinau municipality will have their tariff salaries increased by 20%. A decision to this effect was adopted unanimously by the Chisinau Municipal Council on November 27. This will be applied retroactively, as of September 1, 2018.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Rodica Guțu said over 9,000 teachers will benefit from pay raises.
 
The decision was taken in connection with the new law on pay grades in the budget-funded sector that allows the district and local councils to raise the salaries of employees working in the social sphere from the additional revenues earned when fulfilling the local budget, by up to 20% of the main salary.

“It was established that the municipal budget savings can be used to raise the pays,” stated Rodica Guțu.
