The size of state’s support for crediting farmers by commercial banks will be 150,000 lei, significantly more than last year’s 85,000 lei. The payment of subsidies will begin in a few days, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vasile Bumacov, said that the subsidization procedure will be simplified. Several restrictions regarding the subsidized sums have been canceled and the list of technical units the purchase of which will be subsidized has been extended. At the request of producers’ associations, other limitations have been annulled as well. The payment of subsidies will begin as soon as the Regulation of the Agricultural Subsidies Fund, approved by the Executive, is published in the gazette. Stimulating crediting is one of the 11 measures approved by the Parliament aiming at supporting farmers. The total sum allotted for them is 250 million lei. “Subsidies will be offered to those who applied last year, but didn’t get them. There is a debt of 17 million lei from 2009. Thus, the 250 million lei will allow us to cover debts from 2010 and 2009, but additional funds will be allotted after the first amendment to the Budget. We’ll have some projects with foreign financing, which will offer the farmers a chance to increase investments in their businesses”, said the minister. According to the Agency of Payments and Interventions in Agriculture, in 2010, when the subsidization system was launched, only 2000 out of the 5002 requests have been satisfied. The amount of investments, from private sources and subsidies, reached over 3 billion lei and 2000 new jobs have been created.
