The Democratic Party chairman, Pavel Filip, said that the group does not plan to form coalitions in the current Parliament. The PDM leader said that the party is now concerned with internal reforms and as long as the current government will deliver results, the Democrats will support it. The statement was made at the public station Moldova 1.
"We are not going to make coalitions in Parliament. The Democratic Party is now concerned with internal reforms. We have our own agenda, which we have stated from the very beginning. Therefore, we will not judge the government by its colors, especially considering that the current executive is a technocratic one. We will support it as long as it delivers results to the citizens", said Pavel Filip during the "Moldova în direct" show.
The PDM leader said that it is certain that the Chicu government will face challenges. "We voted for this government because our conditions were acknowledged, namely, the return to the implementation of social projects started by us and stopped by the government of Maia Sandu, the ongoing implementation of the EU Association Agreement and of the Free Trade Agreement and the development of strategic relations with our neighbors - Romania and Ukraine", said Pavel Filip.According to the former prime minister, other bills that are part of the social package will be introduced.
According to Pavel Filip, the current government will be able to have a good dialogue with international financial institutions. The PDM chairman pointed out that foreign assistance is not granted to individuals, but to the state of the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, development partners will continue to provide financing from abroad.
Moreover, Pavel Filip said that the actions of the government led by Maia Sandu regarding assuming responsibility for amending the Law on the Prosecutor's Office are a deviation from the rule of law. According to him, the PDM considers that the Constitution was neglected in this case. "We have a law, which has not been declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court, thus must be applied. If it is amended, then is should be applied starting with the next cycle", said the politician.
