On June 6 and 7, the waste accumulated in Chisinau will be collected. Afterward, the Chisinau City Hall and the Ministry of Environment will have to suggest solutions to the waste problem as this issue is not within the Government’s competence, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said after the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies that was convened in the evening of June 5, IPN reports.
According to the Premier, the impossibility of collecting waste in Chisinau became a critical problem. “In fact, it is a problem that appeared many years ago and that, from my viewpoint, was somehow conserved by decision makers of the City Hall because it is a problem within the remit of the Chisinau City Hall, not of the Government. Regrettably, we have an exceptional situation and we should intervene, but this does not mean that the Government will continue to deal with this problem,” stated Pavel Filip.
In the same meeting, there was created a working group that during the next few days will present a long-term plan of action for solving the waste problem in Chisinau. The group will have discussions with inhabitants of Bubuieci village to find solutions to the existing problems and to ensure the cleaning of Chisinau. For their part, representatives of the inhabitants of Bubuieci accepted a one-month term on condition that the authorities will definitively solve the created situation.
The Commission for Emergencies was convoked at the request of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environment given the danger of an epidemic situation in Chisinau.
