Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who had a meeting with the outgoing President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev in Chisinau, thanked the Bulgarian official for the support provided to Moldova, especially on the path of European integration, IPN reports.
According to the executive’s press service, the Premier assured that the Government of Moldova stands ready to continue the Moldovan-Bulgarian dialogue so as to develop and intensify the bilateral relations in all the spheres of cooperation.
Rosen Plevneliev noted that after his meeting with Pavel Filip on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York in September, Moldova has made visible progress in doing reforms. Bulgaria will continue to support the country in its European integration efforts and to share its experience in different areas.
Head of Parliament Andrian Candu also met with Rosen Plevneliev. Among the main subjects discussed in the meeting were the political and economic situation in the Republic of Moldova after the presidential elections, diversification of Moldovan-Bulgarian cooperation and priorities for the immediate period. “The presidential elections were held in accordance with international standards, despite particular shortcomings that we aim to remove by improving the legislation, especially as regards voting abroad. Parliament and the Government aim to ensure good inter-institutional cooperation with the President-elect, even if this comes from the opposition, so as to unite society,” stated Andrian Candu.
He added that Parliament and the Government will join forces to implement a synchronized agenda so as to bring Moldova closer to the EU. “It is important to keep the pace of implementation of the reform agenda, the Association Agreement and the program with the IMF. Only this way will we be able to restore people’s confidence. Our mission is to develop, by concrete actions and results, an attractive national project for the people, but without making concessions as regards the association and integration into the EU,” said the Speaker.
The President of Bulgaria encouraged the Moldovan authorities to continue the reforms and to consolidate the state institutions, saying Bulgaria wants to contribute to Moldova’s success and is ready to share its accomplishments.
