Prime Minister Pavel Filip assured the members of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs that the implementation of the Association Agreement and reforms that will benefit the people is the Moldovan Government’s absolute priority. During his two-day visit to Brussels, the Premier had a meeting with members of the Commission, with whom he spoke about the priorities and measures taken by the executive. He noted that he thinks confidence is gained, not offered, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

“The current Government has all the necessary determination to do democratic reforms that will bring about changes. The implementation of the Association Agreement and of the Free Trade Agreement represents the foundation stone of the agenda for reforming the country and strengthening its institutions,” said Pavel Filip.

He also said that the new ruling alliance formed in Moldova’s Parliament centers on the objective of European integration and has the capacity and political will needed to put into practice the reforms assumed before the people and the external partners of Moldova.

“The European Union’s support is decisive for the success of our reformation efforts. The political association and effective economic integration into the EU is the major objective of our relations, in which I believe and hope that one day we will set even more ambitious aspirations. I didn’t come here to ask for confidence. It is my personal conviction that confidence is gained, not offered,” stated Pavel Filip.

At the end of his visit to Brussels, Pavel Filip had a meeting with the President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz. The Premier informed him about the mechanism created for synchronizing the agendas of the legislature and executive of Moldova, which is aimed at accelerating the reformation process. The European official encouraged the Government to continue to make progress in doing reforms, saying the Moldovan authorities can count on their support.
