Pavel Filip thanks Romania for approval of disbursement of €50m

Prime Minister Pavel Filip thanked the Government of Romania for the approval of the disbursement of the third tranche of the loan provided to the Republic of Moldova. The tranche of €50 million will be transferred to Moldova at end-February.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed. Romania always helped us in important moments,” Pavel Filip wrote on his Facebook page.

On the same subject, Romania’s Ambassador in Chisinau Daniel Ionita has told IPN he is convinced that the money provided to Moldova will be used sensibly, in socially important sectors. This loan is a stimulus and also an encouragement for the Moldovan authorities to continue on the path of improvements.

The second tranche of the Romanian loan of €150 million will be disbursed on February 27. The Government of Romania on February 16 approved the decision that enables to withdraw the €50 million. The request to receive the second tranche was transmitted by the Ministry of Finance of Moldova this January. The first tranche of €60 million was transferred to Moldova last August. The loan is repayable in five years, at an interest rate of 1.5%.
