Even if the executive was invested in a period of crisis, it managed to unblock external financing and to stabilize the economy. The country’s economic development was and is the central objective of the Government, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a news conference held to mark two years of the investiture, IPN reports.
Pavel Filip said an economic growth of about 4% was ensured. Measures were taken to ensure the comfort of entrepreneurs and to improve the situation in the banking sector. The progress in the economic sector enabled the Government to support the social agenda so as to increase the living standards.
In another development, the Premier mentioned the rise in the average official salary, indexation of pensions and the pension system reform. “We will finish the valorization process beforehand. The two final stages were already set for April 1 and, respectively, October 1 this year. We did it to lay the basis of a pension system that would ensure an untroubled life for the elderly people,” he stated.
According to Pavel Filip, the improvement of the population’s state of health is a separate concern. In this regard, reforms were done to supervise public health, to better determine disability, to restructure the hospital sector. The modernization of education is another goal of the Government. Investment was made to ensure the high-quality training of teachers. The process of closing schools was attentively monitored. There was introduced the professional baccalaureate.
The Premier noted that regional development will remain a priority this year too, with emphasis on the rehabilitation of roads and energy infrastructure. “Step by step, town by town, the citizens will see an improvement in the local infrastructure. If we want in Europe, our communications should start to look as in Europe,” stated Pavel Filip.
This year, the Government will focus on the continuation of the justice sector reform and the fight against corruption so that all the people are equal before the law and their trust in justice is restored. The Premier assured that in the electoral year 2018 the executive will stay far from the election campaign and will continue to work to achieve concrete results.
