Pavel Filip says he took note of leaving of party mates

The president of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip said that he took note of the announcement made by the Democratic MPs who decided to leave the party. According to him, the decision was predictable given particular events witnessed the past few months, IPN reports.

“It goes beyond differences between the views of the party and this group and I think their decision is optimal and will help both the PDM and this group to develop further, including by possible future cooperation on projects of common interest. I’m now in Bucharest where I have a number of official meetings. I will return to Chisinau in the evening. The party’s leadership will come together and we will present our official position,” Pavel Filip posted on Facebook.

Six MPs of the Democratic Party on February 19 announced that they decided to leave the party and the party’s parliamentary group. These are: Andrian Candu, Sergiu Sîrbu, Vladimir Cebotari, Eleonora Graur, Corneliu Padnevici and Grigore Repeshchuk. The announcement was made in a news conference where the MPs said that they do not support the actions of the PDM’s leadership, concentrated on the formation of a coalition with the Socialists, without having at least one discussion with the parties of the right.
