Pavel Filip requests to review decision on summer vacation for kindergartens

Prime Minister Pavel Filip instructed the Ministry of Education to review the regulations concerning the institution of a summer vacation for kindergartens and crèches. In the April 5 meeting of the Cabinet, he said the issue should be discussed with local public authorities and parents so as to identify reasonable solutions, IPN reports.

“My request is for the inspectors to leave their offices and go and discuss with the local authorities and parents before making a final decision so as to reach a consensus,” stated Pavel Filip.

The Ministry of Education’s decision to institute a 40-day summer vacation for kindergartens aroused the dissatisfaction of parents, who said that they do not have who to leave their children with and no employer will provide such long leave to them.

The Premier warned the Ministry about the de-synchronization of the autumn and spring vacations of the first-fourth graders and fifth-twelfth graders and requested to review the vacation calendar for the next school year.
