Pavel Filip promises support to farmers who bring value added

Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined that agriculture is a priority for the Government.  He visited several agricultural companies in Criuleni district within a working visit to the Phitotechny Institute “Porumbeni”. The Premier congratulated the Institute’s employees on their accomplishments given that three corn hybrids obtained by these were included in the State Register of Romania, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

“It is a success of the Institute’s specialists and I want to believe that you will continue with other initiatives and researches that will make the products made in Moldova known. This will enable us to promote and sell the three sorts of corn in the European Union,” stated Pavel Filip.

The official also said that the Government supports the centers of excellence and the initiatives that can become examples to be followed by other research institutions of the country. “We will support the Moldovan institutions and enterprises with traditions because they make us more competitive as a country,” said the Premier.

Pavel Filip also visited the largest biomass pellet plant in the country, which was built within a project financed by the Government of Japan. The plant has a production capacity of about 4,000 tonnes of pellets a year and can heat 25 nurseries and schools that were outfitted with special boilers purchased also with Japanese funds.

The Prime Minister visited Onitcani village of Criuleni district where he informed himself about the activity of one of the largest vegetable producers in Moldova. The company became a profitable agricultural business by implementing modern technology with the assistance of external partners. The Premier noted that agriculture of the future is based on advanced technology that will generate value added and the Government he heads will support namely these farmers.

Pavel Filip added that the Government is determined to assist the agricultural producers by support policies and by access to development loans, direct import of diesel fuel and negotiation of grants with external partners and by creating a more attractive business environment for those who want to invest in Moldova’s economy.
