Pavel Filip: Pro-European option does not prevent us from having good relations with Eastern countries

Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the June 8 meeting of the Cabinet, spoke about the results of his June 6-7 visit to Belarus. He said the constructive dialogue with the Belarusian side shows that Moldova is able to build mutually advantageous bilateral relations also with states that are not members of the EU, especially those from the Commonwealth of Independent States, IPN reports.

“The Moldovan-Belarusian relations are an example showing that the pro-European option of the Republic of Moldova does not prevent us from having good relations with the countries from the East, based on mutual respect,” stated the Premier.

The Premier’s meetings with Belarusian officials centered on the achievement of the objectives set in concert and the results obtained in the areas of mutual interest as a result of bilateral cooperation. Pavel Filip noted the augmentation of trade between the two states and the activity of the Moldovan-Belarusian intergovernmental commercial-economic commission that met earlier this week to identify new contact points on this segment.
