Pavel Filip: PDM can be ready to come to power

The president of the Democratic Party (PDM) Pavel Filip said the party he heads can be ready to come to power and can have discussions with all the parties that are now represented in Parliament. The question is, if other partners are ready to start discussions with the Democratic Party, IPN reports.

Pavel Filip said the appointment of the Chicu Government is a closed chapter and the PDM does not necessarily aim to obtain seats of minister in the current executive. He referred to the statements of Prime Minister Ion Chicu and President Igor Dodon, who spoke about the inefficiency of some of the ministers and the necessity of Cabinet reshuffles. “Why should we form part of the Chicu Government? This political episode is over. The PDM voted for this Government and gave it carte blanche,” the ex-Premier stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

The president of the PDM said he does not yet know if the party will field a candidate in this year’s presidential elections. But the party could also support a common candidate. “The decision will be taken by all the party mates as we must take into account the political conjuncture and we will definitely have discussions. I will not give you an answer now as we must first decide how we will take part, with what candidate and what our chances are. Later, based on the discussions we will have with parties, we will take the relevant decisions,” stated the politician.
