Pavel Filip: Moldovan-Hungarian relations contribute to developing common projects

“We welcome the ascent of the Moldovan-Hungarian relations that offer the possibility of developing bilateral projects in the economic, social and cultural spheres,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

The Premier greeted the intention of the Hungarian bank OTP to purchase the majority interest in a Moldovan bank. According to hi, the coming of OTP to the Moldovan market is an additional proof that the banking sector of Moldova was stabilized.

Pavel Filip also welcomed Hungary’s intention to open a credit line to the value of €62 million for lending to Moldovan and Hungarian companies that develop common businesses.

The officials agreed that the joint intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation will meet this May to further stimulate the development of the relations between the two countries, this being a good platform for discussions.

Pavel Filip and Péter Szijjártó conferred on the parliamentary elections that will take place in Moldova on February 24. The Premier said the key objective is to hold free and transparent elections in accordance with the international standards. He noted the Moldovan authorities want a large number of observers to oversee the process so that the elections are assessed correctly and objectively.
