Pavel Filip: IT sector is country’s chance of economic development

Investments in the IT sector are very important. This sector is the country’s chance of economic development, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in an event held to present the progress report of the project Moldova IT Park one year after its launch. The Premier said this is a very important project for him on which he worked a lot while he served as minister of information and communication technology, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip in the event said that during one year of activity alone, the virtual IT park became home to 339 companies. The average monthly salary there is 28,000 lei. This salary rose twice over a year. Sales revenues came to 2 billion lei.

“No one believed in this idea from the start. We were then a small group of enthusiasts and I want to thank those who believed in this project. I exhibited a lot of insistence and courage and this is probably the only project where the governmental bodies showed more initiative than the IT industry,” stated Pavel Filip.

He noted the setting of a common tax of 7% for the residents of IT parks is beneficial to companies and to the state as this way no one avoids paying taxes. The digitization of public services contributes to reducing bureaucracy and corruption in public institutions. Owing to the use of information technology, the services became more transparent. The Public Services Agency that provides over 160 public services through the one-stop shop is a relevant example.

On the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, a group of ICT companies and employees were handed over the Government’s Diploma of Honor.
