Pavel Filip: Implementation of Association Agreement is a national priority

The implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union continues to be a national priority of Moldova, both in its internal and external policy, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the officials discussed the implementation of Moldova’s European agenda and the stimulation of reforms in different areas. The Premier reiterated the Cabinet’s determination to swiftly take measures to improve the people’s lives.

Pavel Filip said they will be making effort to carry out the overdue measures from the national plan of action for implementing the Association Agreement within a month. The Cabinet will cooperate with Parliament so that the European agenda becomes a joint one for the ministers and MPs.

In this connection, Pirkka Tapiola welcomed the Premier’s proposal to stage a joint meeting that will involve members of the Cabinet, the administration of Parliament and of the parliamentary commissions and ambassadors of EU member states working in Moldova.

The two also discussed the key actions that will be taken to prepare for the meeting of the Moldova-EU Association Council, adjustment of the national normative framework to the European standards, strengthening of the state institutions, improvement of the situation in the financial-banking sector and the socioeconomic development of Moldova.

The officials underlined the necessity of taking determined measures to increase confidence in the state institutions, including by ensuring open communication with civil society and by strengthening the relations with the foreign partners.
