Pavel Filip: I’m sure elections cannot be rigged

Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in a meeting with the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), said that as a Premier he is interested in ensuring that the upcoming elections are fair and transparent, while the assertions that the elections could be rigged are groundless. The European officials came to Moldova to monitor the preparations for the October 30 presidential elections, IPN reports.

“I’m sure that the elections in the Republic of Moldova cannot be rigged. A large number of international observers will be accredited so that society can convince itself of this. From technical viewpoint, everything is ensured,” stated the Premier.

To the PACE delegation’s inquiries about the establishment of polling places abroad and the possibility of students to vote in the town where they study, Pavel Filip answered that the decision to set up 100 polling places outside Moldova was taken based on statistical data and the requests made by the diaspora. Also, the persons who want to vote elsewhere than at the place of residence can register beforehand at the mayor’s office of the settlement where they intend to vote so as to be put on additional voter rolls.
