Prime Minister Pavel Filip assured he will insist that all those involved in the bank fraud be penalized. In a program on Moldova 1 channel, he stated that effort will continue to be made for the stolen money to be recovered and for the banking and regulatory systems to be strengthened so as to prevent such frauds in the future, IPN reports.
“I will insist that all those who were involved in the bank fraud be held accountable. That’s why the investigation into this fraud will be brought to an end. In this respect, we bank on the second report by Kroll, which is to be provided in the near future. Restoring this money is another important thing. I hope the Kroll report will be useful to us, but the competent authorities should also do their job,” said Pavel Filip.
He noted that a package of laws is being worked out to prevent such frauds in the future. “It is much more important to take measures to prevent a repeat of such a case in the Republic of Moldova. For the purpose, we must make stronger the institutions that regulate the financial sector and thus drafted a bill to strengthen the National Bank and the National Commission for Financial Markets. We have a plan of action and will continue to approve the laws that will ensure stability in the banking sector,” stated the Prime Minister.
Pavel Filip also said that he had discussions on the issue with representatives of the IMF and was assured by these of their support.
