Pavel Filip: I hope we will restore normal relations with Russia

Prime Minister Pavel Filip wants Moldova to have normal relations with Russia, but Moscow should take into account Chisinau’s option. The official told a news conference that the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission is looking for solutions to fully open the Russian market for all the Moldovan products, not only for particular companies, IPN reports.

Asked if Russia imposed conditions for allowing the import of Moldovan fruit and berries, such as apostilling of university diplomas issued in Transnistria, Pavel Filip said the bilateral discussions with the Russian partners didn’t center on the Transnistrian diplomas or the access of motor vehicles with Transnistrian license plates to international traffic.

In these discussions, they tried to return to the economic-commercial agenda of the two states. Representatives of the intergovernmental commission on behalf of Moldova went to Moscow last week, in the context of the preparations for the next meeting that will be held in autumn.

“I hope we will return to normality in the relations with the Russian Federation and I transmitted the message that I want normal relations that will take into consideration Moldova’s European option, especially because there are no obstacles to the free trade with the EU and with Russia in this regard,” stated the Premier. Pavel Filip voiced hope that the customs duties imposed earlier by Russia on particular Moldovan goods will be annulled.
