Pavel Filip: European integration remains key objective of government program

Candidate for premiership Pavel Filip said the government program of the Cabinet he will head will focus on the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, with the European integration being its key objective. He made such statements on January 18, after a series of meetings with MPs of the parliamentary majority who signed the statement by which he was proposed for Prime Minister, IPN reports.

“We aim to finish the government program in two days. The European integration remains the key goal. The program will be mainly based on the Association Agreement with the EU. I heard a number of proposals concerning it. At 2pm, four groups will start to work to gather proposals over internal affairs, political, legal and social matters. We will take into account all the proposals submitted so far,” stated Pavel Filip.

Asked about the composition of the Government he will head, Pavel Filip said this will be a political Cabinet, even if he would like a technocratic one, as only a political Government can assume full responsibility before the people. But it will be a professional Cabinet. “We partly discussed the distribution of posts, but have yet time today and tomorrow to do this and intend to ask for the Parliament’s vote of confidence by this weekend,” he said.

Democratic MP Valentina Buliga said they had a thorough discussion on how the future government program should look like, its key elements and policies, and how they should act to increase the people’s confidence in the state institutions, how to continue on the path of European integration and how to implement important provisions of the Association Agreement.

“The Democratic Party wants this Government to bring stability and profound system reforms so that the delay in reformation is overcome. The candidate is optimistic. Groups involving specialists work on the government program,” stated the lawmaker.

According to Valentina Buliga, the future Government will be an equidistant one because the sad experience of post distribution showed that the Cabinet must be professional.
