Pavel Filip: European integration is the country project

The need of a country project is one of the lessons learned during the last 25 years and this project envisions the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in an interview for the publication “Timpul” (“Time”) on the occasion of the recently celebrated Independence Day, IPN reports.

“The need of a country project is one of the lessons learned during the last 25 years. That’s why I, as the Prime Minister, repeatedly spoke about the European integration as about a country project and about that thing that can motivate us to go right on the path of reforms and to bring that change to the better that our people and the politicians expect. We want in the EU because this means opportunities for our people, money for roads, schools and kindergartens, direct support from the most powerful countries on the continent. That’s why I called on society to make common cause around this fundamental objective. I think a Moldova worth being in Europe is a project that can eliminate the current split in the political class and society of Moldova. I hope the accomplishments of the current Government will convince even the most skeptical ones that we can achieve the objectives we set,” stated Pavel Filip.

After the elections of this October, the Premier would like Moldova to have a responsible and balanced President who will realize the key role of stability in the current context. “There is always the risk that some will want, by themselves or directed by others, to achieve on the street what they cannot achieve by voting. But I know that the Moldovans are serous people who do not believe in the promises of political adventurists. The people want concrete things and facts, not circus. They already saw that only stability and a committed Government can bring higher incomes and lower prices. I thus have confidence in the responsible politicians and in the wisdom of our people, who will not allow the country to slip again into chaos and instability,” said the Prime Minister.

According to him, the Government will continue to seriously do reforms, to implement the Moldova – EU Association Agreement and to increase the living standards. “We want to develop Moldova and to fulfill the undertaken commitments so that no one can thwart the European integration plan. We have both will and capability to keep our word,” he stated.
