Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the evening of May 22 had a meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament that came to Chisinau to take part in the fourth meeting of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee. The sides exchanged opinions on the short- and medium-term priorities of the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU that are defined in the national plan of action for implementing the 2017-2019 Association Agenda, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip reiterated the executive’s firm commitment to promote the agenda aimed at transforming the state so that it serves the interests of the state, noting the constant assistance provided by the European Parliament in promoting the European course of the Republic of Moldova. The Prime Minister referred to the concept of the public administration reform that was proposed for public consultations, underlining the necessity of appropriately implementing this reform.
The discussions also centered on the macro-financial assistance intended for the Republic of Moldova. Pavel Filip underlined the importance of the financial support in implementing the reform agenda. “The macro-financial assistance from the EU is very important for us, as was the obtaining of a program with the International Monetary Fund. The conditionality package helps us to mobilize and move on,” stated the Premier.
“You had a difficult mission and will yet face many challenges in the future, but it is our duty to support the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process,” said MEP Andi Cristea. The members of the European Parliament reiterated the support of the delegation of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee for the modernization of the state.
