The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM) Pavel Filip said that mathematically he does not see how the so-called anti-crisis Government could be appointed. Moreover, the initiative concerning a new Government is not the “game” of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) as it is not clear what the logic and the goal of those who invested enormously in the leaving of MPs from the PDM are to support and vote the PPPDA’s Government without any conditionality, IPN reports.
“I’m an engineer by profession and try to look at things based on logic. From mathematical viewpoint, I do not see how this can happen. If the stake is on the Shor Party and the Candu group, I think this is an absolutely incorrect stake. I consider the Shor Party is a gathering of people who spend the stolen billion. On the other hand, we see that the Candu group develops based on the same roots. No one has now doubts that this is one party divided somehow into two groups,” Pavel Filip stated in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
Therefore, the Democratic heavyweight said he is surprised to see politicians who are now ready to propose a motion of no confidence in any way and to remove the current Government without having calculations as to what will happen further. This is an irresponsible approach as one should first see the end result of an action.
As to the defections of MPs from the PDM, Pavel Filip said these are the consequences of the reformation of the party. “Those who left criticized the activity of the Democratic Party, but none of them wanted to assume responsibility and thus left as those who remained in the PDM have to answer for what happened,” he stated, noting no one left because of ideological believes or because of divergences of values and they were almost all offered money to leave, including through intermediaries, relatives, friends.
In another development, Pavel Filip spoke about the alleged discussion between President Igor Dodon and incumbent mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban, as to the annulment of the mayoral elections in Chisinau, which were won by Andrei Năstase. He noted that he cannot pronounce on the authenticity of those audio recordings, but considers that everything started from the invalidation of those elections as all the red lines were crossed then. He then asked the former leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc about the invalidation and this said that “he has nothing to do with justice”.
The politician also said that Vlad Plahotniuc left the country owing to the mistakes he made. “A year ago, the PDM no longer had partners here, inside, and also outside the country. The party found itself in the opposition even if it entered Parliament with 30 seats.”
As to the release of Veaceslav Platon from jail, Pavel Filip said he cannot state his opinion as he does not know the case and the existing evidence. When he served as Prime Minister, the then prosecutor general asserted that Platon was one of the heads of the four groups involved in the bank theft. “Then I didn’t have reasons not to believe the prosecutor. Now I also do not have reasons not to believe the prosecutor general, but “the Plahotniuc group” didn’t exist then,” he stated.
