Pavel Filip about coalition with PSRM: It’s not simple as views are absolutely different

The leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) Pavel Filip, said the party he manages will not withdraw from the government coalition formed with the Party of Socialists (PSRM) even if the two parties have different views about governance.

“We have never spoken about the leaving of the government coalition. I must admit that it is not easy in this coalition as the views are sometimes absolutely different and we insist on the adoption of a bill or another. At the same time, I think the withdrawal from the government now would be nothing but irresponsibility on the part of the party I represent,” IPN quoted Pavel Filip as saying in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

The Democratic leader also said that the party’s goal is not to be in power at any cost, but leaving the government coalition in times of a pandemic would be sheer irrepressibility.

“We are a very responsible party. Wasn’t it easier to be in the opposition now than to be involved in governance?” asked the ex-Premier.

As to politicians’ assertions that a new Parliament should be elected, Pavel Filip said snap parliamentary elections will not take place in the Republic of Moldova and the statements to this effect made until now are just electoral in character. He considers the organization of snap parliamentary elections would generate disaster in the country.
