Representatives of a number of Moldovan organizations decided to create the patriotic bloc “We Save Moldova”, which would serve as a common platform for the extraparliamentary parties and NGOs with patriotic views, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the National Salvation Committee “For Moldova!”, issued on May 17.
In its communique, the Committee says the key goal of the platform is to form a sociopolitical force that will strengthen Moldova’s statehood, integrity, neutrality, sovereignty and will keep the historical heritage.
“The neutralization of corruption, creation of conditions for sustained and significant improvement of the quality of life of the multinational population of Moldova, the return home of those who went abroad to look for a job, restoration of the relations with the partners and historical allies – these are the common tasks of all the healthy forces of Moldova,” reads the press release.
According to the Committee, a working group was created to prepare and stage the meeting to constitute the common patriotic bloc this autumn. The group consists of representatives of a number of political parties of Moldova and leaders of civil society organizations, including representatives of Gagauzia and the other regions of the country, and is headed by the former head of the main counterespionage division of Moldova Ion Mahu, who now heads the Center for the Coordination of the National Salvation Committee “For Moldova!”.
A number of 33 political and social organizations were invited to take part in the general assembly to constitute the patriotic bloc. The Committee’s main organizational body includes Afghan war veterans and former officers of law enforcement bodies, historians and economists who support Moldova’s statehood, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
